Forest City Ratner Community Day

Annual FCRC Community Day Gives Back to Brooklyn

On Friday, June 13, more than 200 volunteers from Forest City Ratner Companies, including Chairman and CEO Bruce Ratner, met at Prospect Park for some hard labor to observe the company's Fifth Annual Community Day, a day set aside for giving back to the local community. Most of the volunteers converged on the park's Tennis House to give the historic neoclassical Greek structure its first major renovation in 15 years, while another team worked on the park's east side, near the Wollman skating rink.

At the Tennis House the volunteers power-washed the tile floor, walls and steps; painted the wrought-iron fence and the railings around the building; weeded, mulched and cleaned up the surrounding area; removed the old carpet from the building's basement; and repaired the cabinetry in the kitchen.

FCRC's team on the park's east side spent the day weeding, mulching and raking around the shrubs near the ice skating rink.

FCRC has participated in community days since 2004, when employees painted fences and cleaned up Fort Greene Park. FCRC’s parent company, Forest City Enterprises, also participates in Community Day, with over 1,000 employees in 30 different cities performing some kind of community service.
