In making the vision of Atlantic Yards a reality, FCRC partnered with eight local community and advocacy groups. The Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) signatories are: Faith in Action; the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN); Brooklyn United for Innovative Local Development (BUILD); Brooklyn Voices for Children; the Downtown Brooklyn Neighborhood Alliance (DBNA); Brooklyn Endeavor Experience (BEE); the New York State Association of Minority Contractors (NYSAMC) and the Public Housing Communities (PHC). Together, they have created the first ever Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) (PDF-910 KB) in New York State. In addition, over 200 community leaders and organizations have affirmed their support for the landmark agreement. The CBA is a legally binding document that ensures middle-income and affordable housing, educational initiatives, jobs for minorities and women, as well as pre- and post-construction job training. It also provides environmental assurances and a commitment to develop community facilities such as child-care, youth and senior centers, and it ensures community access to the arena for local events such as high school and college graduations, and for religious congregations. FCRC continues to meet with community groups and leaders to answer questions and obtain feedback, and to look for new partnerships to make sure the community has the information it needs and a voice in the process.
